Players take the role of the prodigious young magician as he begins his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, joined by other favorite characters such as Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and even Draco Malfoy. The gameplay and story remain true to the initial release (which was designed for home computers and the original PlayStation): a third-person 3D action-adventure based on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, the first novel in J.K. The updated release features presentational enhancements designed to make use of the power of the 128-bit generation systems. The most famous boy wizard's first-year adventure gets a next generation update as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone comes to PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Nintendo GameCube in this reissue of the title. Also, lots of collectibles can be found both in the open and hidden areas: collecting 20 wizard cards increases Harry's health and Every Flavour Beans can be traded in Fred and George's shop for more cards and some other useful items.Menus and gameplay are in Multi-11 (English, Danks, Dutch, French, Finnish, German, Italian, Norweigan, Portuguese, Spanish & Swedish).

At any time, it is possible to revisit school lessons to get better grades, often only possible after some more advanced spells have been learned. There's also broomstick flying in the game, including a Quidditch match against Slytherin.Īfter classes, Hogwarts can be freely explored. At night, Harry must watch out for prefects patrolling the floors of the castle to avoid getting sent back to the common room. Often, creatures will be in the way that have to be fought using the correct spells, and magic must also be used to solve the occasional puzzle. Most tasks involve platform sections, where Harry has to jump over chasms and balance along edges. The more interesting stuff happens at night, of course, when Harry sneaks around the castle to do things like meeting Draco Malfoy for a duel, fighting a troll in the dungeons, and other important scenes from the film and book. Days mostly consist of lessons, where usually Harry will learn new spells. After a tutorial at Ollivander's Wand Shop and an introductory first night at Hogwarts, the game is organized into distinct days and nights.
